Who are MDBA

The Masters of Draghounds and Bloodhounds Association (MDBA) was formed in the 1960s by a merger of the Masters of Draghounds and the Masters of bloodhounds Associations, The Masters of Draghounds Association can trace its roots back to the early 1900’s, who in turn can trace the origins of the sport back to the early 1800’s and the university and military packs

The Aims of the Association

Promote the sport and fundamental ethic of draghunting and hunting the ‘clean boot’, the essence of which involves the use of hounds to provide pleasure without the pursuit or killing of wild animals or any attempt to imitate such pursuit and killing;

Set and maintain standards of conduct and performance of Member Hunts in kennels and in their other activities;

Encourage development and breeding of the best working qualities of the Draghound and Bloodhound;

Assist Member Hunts to make a meaningful contribution to the wider management and conservation of the countryside;

Promote the social and economic values that hunts bring to rural communities;

Protect Members from adverse legislation; and Liaise with other organisations whose legitimate interests are aligned to those of the Association.

The Association is governed by an executive committee drawn from its member packs who are responsible to deliver these aims.
